About Dr. Thangasamy
Dr. Daniel Raj Joseph Thangasamy, BDS, NFPM.,, is a dedicated palliative care physician with a strong commitment to improving the quality of life of patients with advanced and life-limiting illnesses. He currently serves as a Palliative Care Physician at Mahaveer Ashray, a unit of the Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai, where he is actively involved in symptom management, end-of-life care, communication, and holistic support for patients and families.
He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Ragas Dental College, Chennai, where he was awarded the Life Eternal Trust Prize for Best Outgoing Student in General Surgery (2009) for academic excellence. He later pursued the National Fellowship in Palliative Medicine (NFPM) from the Institute of Palliative Medicine, Calicut, and is currently undertaking an MSc in Palliative Medicine at Cardiff University, UK, supported by the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship.
Dr. Daniel has actively contributed to research and academic discussions in palliative care, presenting his work at national and international conferences. He presented research at the 13th World Research Congress of the European Association of Palliative Care (EAPC) in Barcelona, Spain, and has been a regular participant at the International Conference of the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPCON). His poster on the "Management of malignant bowel obstruction in the community" won First Prize at IAPCON 2023.
